THE LONESOME DOVE REUNION
This project was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on the most iconic book and movie about Texas. Thanks to Stacey and Brian Pierce along with my love for the west, the creative pitch for this project became the perfect marriage. Working along side Ramona Kelly and the team at Texas State University and Bill Wittliff, I began by taking a road trip to where it all started – Archer City, Texas where Larry McMurtry penned this iconic story.
Building off the original logo from the book and several iterations of one that has been used on movie posters, dvd covers, etc. I brought in custom tooling into the L and D of the logo for special uses such as a foil stamped VIP invitation. The main logo used across marketing materials from ads to rack cards was simplified using a gun metal brown balanced with two hits of burgundy which translated well on every medium.
The end result to our campaign and perfectly planned series of events headed by Stacey Piece and the reunion which was attended by majority of the cast and crew was a hit across the media and with audiences which raised awareness of Texas State University and raised funds for The Wittliff Collection.
